Abstract

Defore are essentially Euclide, who moved over seas to America in the early years of their history. They are American versions of the English Puppeteers, without the evil desires. Think of them as Pioneers back to the old world, or "Cowboys and Indians".

Name

Defore were not given their species name the same way as the Amuni and Euclides. Defor means diddly squat in Defore culture. Mem did choose it for a reason though. She named the race after Deforest Kelly, a rather underated actor (now deceased, bless his soul), who played many an antagonist in old western movies.

Defore cannot be named just any old thing. They have set naming rules to abide by. No Defore may have any American name, whether it be an actualy dubbing or that of an object (Eg. Sally, Ryan, Dustin, Swordheart, Featherbox, Raincloud, etc.) Essentially, no English words. Other languages are also not permitted for Defor.

Spefic Naming Requirements - Unless otherwise stated, these can be anywhere in the name, so long as they are present
Cheifs: 'Te'
Shaman: 'Hae'
Pioneers/Ranchers: 'S' or 'A'
Females: 'Ie' or 'Y'
Males: 'B' or 'D'
Artifacts: 'A' connected to any other vowel (eg. Aa, Ae, Ai, Ao, Au, Ay)
Remember to use all name rules that apply to your Defore when naming them.

Defore have different naming used than the Euclide and Amuni for one simple reason. The tradition was lost in translation between the two continents. Someone somewhere forgot the old way of doing things, and started a new naming tradition.

Physical

Defore grow from 3' to 5' at the shoulder, and usually twice that in length. Depending upon the species they can be rather bulky and formidable as well, turning them into very powerful creatures when they decide to use force. They can run up to 40mph, and keep this pace up for a fair amounth of time.

All Defore have minor shapeshifting abilities. They can become semi-anthromorphic, meaning they can switch between bipedal and quadrapedal movement. In their semi-anthro stage they also have hands instead of paws, which allowed them to do things normal wolves/cats/rabbits/etc. wouldn't.

Lifespan

Defor can live fore a total of 300 years. They don't age much different from humans, mind, they just stop aging after a certain point. It only takes a few years for a baby Defore to grow to maturity (around twenty, but the bebes acquired through the PMC are around this age anyway). Bodies age until around 70 years, when they resemble middle-aged adults, and then they stop. Females tend to stop aging a few years before this, so they keep their youthful beauty. Euclide are all about charm and poise, afterall.

Diet

Defore are omnivorous, feeding on meats, fruits, vegatables, and bread. They'll eat pretty much anything not rotting or unedible.

Society

Defore, unlike Amuni and Euclide, don't live in any set sort of building. They can live in whatever sort of place they like, but usually take to more wild-like terrain than cities and villages. Forests, copses, plains, and other such things work well for Defore habitats.

An organized group of Defore is called a Caravan. Caravans can have anywhere from 3 to 20 members, consisting of any breed or type. Meaning that felines and canines can live in the same group.

"The ______ ______ Caravan" or "The Caravan of ______ ______" are the naming formats for Defore groups. English words may be used, but no other language. Caravans are always named after something to do with nature, and always using english words. "The Wild Rose Caravan" is a good name, as is "The Caravan of Rushing Water".

Variations

There are two sub-sub-types of Defore (as they are already a sub-type of Euclides). The differences are very minute, and they are both still classifies as the same breed, with the same types and social structure. They are the Ninidia and the Cionre.

Ninidia: Somewhat less "book smart" than the Cionre. Have longer coats and sport heavier markings. The only type to be able to obtain the rank of Shaman, as Ninidia are the only variantion with magical powers. Powers are minute, and usually related to spirits and the 'elements', but they are there. All Ninidia have minor healing abilities. They are much more resourceful than the Cionre. Very much conected to the earth.

Cionre: More intelligent, but less likely to use that intelligence for the greater good. Cionre are a material race, who believe in industrialization. They prefer technology over the natural world. They have no magic, therefore cannot become Shamen, but they are all capable of shapeshifting into fully human forms.

Mixes of Cionre and Ninidia are called "Hendunu", and their level of natural intelligence, strength, and abilities/powers varies between individuals.
