Sing for your Supper

Underwritten by The Wheel

Hey, everybody -

Wouldn't it be refreshing to have another little something special to look forward to once a month or so? The Wheel agrees and announces Sing for your Supper.

Once each month, East Tipp staff will be invited to gather in the Media Center to hear one of its own belt out a number. We'll do this at 8:15 so it can help you really start your day out right. As an audience member, you will be encouraged (but, of course, not required) to bring a small pittance as a reward to the artist of the day. When we put our pittances together, it just might be enough to get the artist a free lunch that day. Wouldn't that be swell?

Now all's we need is some talent. Now don't get shy here, kids. After all, you're gonna get free eats! "Well, what if I want to push it up, but I'm a terrible singer?" you say. Well here you go

Hints and Tips from a Terrible Singer

  • Pick a happy, funny song. If you don't take yourself seriously, no one else will either.
  • Sing with a buddy (or two or three or ). If something goes wrong, you can pin it on him later.
  • Sing like William Shatner. Shatner is the master of the spoken word; he gets his meaning across without the high notes.
  • Pick a song the audience knows and might join in for. Then you can always fall back on things like "Everybody!", "Now just the women!", or "Now those whose Social Security Numbers end in 8!"
  • Ask Mrs. Myers. Maybe she can teach you to sign a song instead!

  • To pick a month for yourself or your group, contact Rice. The Wheel has enlisted him as your personal manager - he can get you lyrics, accompaniment, background vocals, or whatever else you need. Sign up soon and the standard 10% manager's cut of your earnings may be waived!
