ETC History

ETC was established on 31 March 1992.

ETC at the Present

Today, ETC has become one of the leading English courses in Bontang. There are more and more people want to join the programs offered by our institution. It is due to the fact that compared to other institutions, out institution has many advances, such as:

• Dynamic curricula. Ever since the very beginning of its establishment until now, our curricula have changed quite a lot. These changes are necessary due to the fact that the world also changes. We really hope that our curricula will always be able to follow the rapid changes that happen in our environment. Therefore, students will always be able to catch up with the latest technology and information.
• Original text books produced by Longman publisher. These books are not only good in contents, but also great in appearance. All books are artistically illustrated with colorful pictures and photos, that make the students more motivated to read the content.
• Up-to-dated audio visual equipments, such as: TV, DVD, VCR, tapes, CDs, OHP, LCD projector, etc. The use of the equipments are meant to make the teaching and learning process more interesting and enjoyable.
• High-qualified and experienced instructors. Most of our instructors graduated from reputable universities. They have a lot of experience in teaching English for all kinds of learners; children, teenagers, adults.
• Various teaching and learning techniques and strategies. We always try to adapt the latest and the best teaching techniques and strategies that can make the students learn English in a better way, so that we can produce high qualified output.

ETC in the Future

We are quite content with the condition of our institution at the present. Yet, we also realize that there are many things that we still have to improve. The following are our expectations that we really expect to make real in the future:

1. A more representative building. We realize the one of the factors that determine the success of teaching and learning process is the building. That is why we will always try to make our building and all the facilities in the building as comfortable as possible.
2. ETC as an alternative institution for higher education in Bontang. The education system in Bontang still needs to be improved, especially in term of the provision of Higher Education institutions. We have already had Trunojoyo University and YABIS. Yet, they are just not enough. We need more and more institutions as the alternatives for the students graduated from High Schools, so that they can continue their studies in Bontang and can improve the development in Bontang. ETC  has an idea to establish a higher institution of English with the degree equals to Diploma II.
3. English Awareness for all the People of Bontang. Wereally hope that the people of Bontang are aware of the importance of English for the future of our nation. Therefore, we will always try to remind the people about this in our conversation clubs, radio broadcast, seminars , workshops, andother activities.
