| Legolas is a Sindarin elf from Mirkwood. He is the son of Thranduil, an elven king. His father sends him as a messenger to Lord Elrond to inform the elven lord that the creature Gollum escaped the watchful eyes of the Mirkwood elves. While in Imladris, he volunteers to aid Frodo in the destruction of the ring of power. He fells one of the winged Nazgul from the air with his Lorien bow. |

| When the fellowship is broken, Legolas joins Aragorn and Gimli in persuit of the Uruk-hai who took Merry and Pippin hostage. He fights at the Battle of Hornburg and the Battle of Pelennor Fields. When he travels to Gondor, he hears the call of the sea birds and from then on, desires to sail across the sea. After the War of the Ring is over, he travels Middle-earth with Gimli and builds one of the last ships to sail to the Valinor. |
