Importance: Fought in the Last Alliance under High King Gil-Galad, keeper of Vilya; one of the three elven rings, founder of Imladris, held Council of Elrond.
    Elrond if the half-elven Lord of Imladris, known to most as Rivendell. His brother and he were given the choice of being numbered among men or elves since their parents were of different races. Elrond chose to be numbered among elves. Serving under the last High King Gil-Galad, Elrond fought in the Last Alliance. Before Gil-Galad died, he was given the elven ring of power Vilya, the ring of air; also called the ring of sapphire.
     Elrond married Celebrian, daughter of Lord Celebron and Lady Galadriel. Together they had Elladan and Elrohir, twin sons, and Arwen.  He raised Aragorn in Imladris when his father was killed since Aragorn is a distance relative of Elros, his brother.
    Celebrian is attacked by orcs while travelling over the Misty Mountains and recieves a poisonous wound. She is rescued by her two sons and returned to Imladris where Elrond heals her. However she looses all joy in Middle-earth and journeys to the Valinor.
     With the help of Glorfindel, Frodo arrives within the saftey of the borders of Rivendell and Elrond sends a flood down the River Bruninen to stay the Ringwraiths. He heals Frodo of his wound and holds the Council of Elrond in which the nine walkers are chosen.
