My father once said, If you dont like the situation you are in, change it. I have used this idea throughout my life and the idea of the power to change your situation has allowed me to grow and transform as a person. A lot of events have occurred throughout my life that made me upset or challenged me but because I brought about change, I can enjoy my life. As a young child, I felt very loved. Although my father worked a lot he still took me to school every morning on his way to work. A few weeks before I turned four, my mother gave birth to my younger brother. At first, I felt jealous but I later found great fun in having a younger brother. I loved playing with him and we soon became very close despite the age difference. Although I had not yet matured and completely understood my attitude change, I had transformed into a loving sister. During my year as a sixth grader, my parents divorced each other. This incident at first was sad but my father and mother both comforted me and continued to be an important part of my life. My brother also served as a great security to me. He went back and forth to each house with me and stood by my side. I realized all the love I still had in my family even though we did not all live in one house. I allowed myself to move on with my life. I know that I still have a lot of changes to face for example, going to college and leaving my friends and family, but I know that with an adjustment in my attitude I will be ok. Transforming has a great significance in my life. If I did not change, I would be unhappy. I know as long as I continue this attitude I will have a happy life. I am fifteen years old and attend high school. My mother gave birth to me in NYC where I often enjoy visiting. Both my parents are American with a Polish- Russian background. In school, I try to challenge myself by taking advanced courses and I also love to paint and draw. During the spring I run on the track team which I enjoy because running alleviates my stress and allows me to socialize with students that share the same interest as me. I love spending weekends with my friends and traveling during vacations. I hope to travel around Europe one day. My friends would describe me as caring, fun- loving, optimistic, shy, and sensitive. I sometimes become upset over little things but because I transform my attitude as I mentioned earlier, I allow myself to move on and not worry too much. Im not sure what occupation I would like to have when I grow older but I know that I would like to have a family and have a fulfilling life in every relationship and project I become involved with.
