Charles Andrew Gobel died Wednesday, January 21, 1959 at 2:30 pm in his home in Bloom Township on the Oil Center Road east of Bloom Center after a two week illness following a stroke. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gobel. He was born in Morgan County April 9, 1881 and was aged 77 years, 9 months and 12 days. He moved to Wood County with his parents in 1894. In 1906 he married Hazel Clemens. Surviving are his wife; a son, Carl Gobel of Bloom Center; a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Bishop of Bloom Center; five grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Halley Frankenfield of Rockville, Md. The funeral was held Saturday, January 24 at 2 pm in St. Luke's Lutheran Church at north baltimore of which he was a member, with Rev. Carl C. Weaver officiating. Burial was made in the Weaver Cemetery.

BLOOD POISON FATAL TO CASS TOWNSHIP MAN / ARTHUR HUFFMAN DIES AFTER A BRIEF ILLNESS

Injury to Finger While Repairing an Automobile Develops Serious--Leaves Wife and Three Children.

Blood poison developing from an injured finger received while repairing his automobile a few days ago proved fatal to Arthur Huffman, aged 43 years, of Cass Township about 6 o'clock last night. He was overhauling his machine when one of his fingers became entangled in a cog wheel. Medical attention was rendered at once and it was not thought that anything serious would contract from the injury. Last Friday, the wound became poisoned and despite the unceasing efforts to save his life, all hopes were in vain. Mr. Huffman was born Sept 23, 1874, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Huffman, early settlers of Washington Township. His mother died several years ago. Mr. Huffman had always resided in Hancock County, being actively engaged in agricultural work all his life. He was married a number of years ago to Miss Amanda Baker, daughter of Squire John Baker, well-known resident of this county. To this union, three children were born. They are: Clair, 4; Catherine 2; and Marian, 3 months. He is survived by two brothers and three sisters, all living in this country. They are: W. E. Huffman and Ephraim Huffman of Marion Township; Mrs. Ballard Nelson of Washington Township; Mrs. Riley Campfield (sic) of Biglick Township and Mrs. Ed Walters of Marion Township. One brother is dead. No definite funeral arrangements had been made last night.
