| Phheeewwww...Emma has finally reached 2 pounds. What a blessing and relief all mixed up into one! The doctors said that 2 pounds was that magic "out of the woods" number and boy, was everybody glad to see it!!! Although, Emma pulled through a very close call not to long before these pictures were taken. On September 12th (Jeannine's b-day) Emma's blood oxygen dropped to a deadly level...due to an infection. She almost died two times. Total panic and fear would be an understatement in trying to describe what Jeannine and Dan experienced that day...although they remained strong NEVER leaving Emma's side! |
| After being re-tubed, receiving a blood transfusion, and injesting some antibiotics, Emma recoved. Slowly, but surely, Emma began to put on some weight. The way they feed these little angel's is through a feeding tube that goes directly into their stomach. The staff in the NICU strongly encouraged Mom and Dad's participation in all aspects of Emma's care...feeding, diaper changes (and boy, those were some teeny diapers), mediaction and baths. Jeannine and Dan were (and still are) very devoted parents and were "hands on" day and night! |
