Script of the Month
One of Chopsticks' best works of art, the Script of the Month!!! As a great college teacher, Chopsticks is very familiar with writing. She loves philosophy, but she needs to work on letting people understand her writing better. Have a great time reading (or struggling with) the complicated articles she has written!
CONCENTRATION Usually, unless you concentrate, you won't do what you're doing very well. Think of studying the most boring subject in school, and who cares if you don't have one! Just pretend your teacher is teaching you a complicated new classroom biggie math trick. Well, if you're still in school, you can pretty much understand my concept. Imagine your classmates wilting with boredom. Now that won't help them concentrate, will it? No matter how much your teacher tries to get you into it, the only way you're going to take it all in and understand it is if YOU want to do it. It all depends on Y-O-U!!! I know it's impossible to be interested in everything, especially what you fear, but try to listen to what your teacher is doing and change it somehow so that it fits your personality. Making connections works really well. It puts some fun and interest into what you're focusing on. But then, how can you change a subject so that you like it? Let's pretend you don't like writing that much and your hand aches when you write too much. Here's a simple remedy that just requires some cunning to figure out. When you have time, get yourself your favorite junk food and drink and place it on your desk. Now try to think of the best day you ever had, like Christmas when dad got you an X-box, mom got you PlayStation2, and Santa got you a skateboard-the type that Tony Hawk uses. Think of everything that went through your mind that great day. The gather your burning thoughts and begin to write about that fine Christmas. Don't worry about grammar or spelling problems; this is like a journal or diary entry. When you don't have any ideas, take a snack and stretch out. Chill. There's no pressure on you and it isn't due as an essay or anything. When you feel like you've scrabbled every detail down, read through and re-experience that day you wrote about. Chances are you might feel so good about it that you want to write more and more and more. Use your head and you can do the same thing with other activities. Now that you have some interest in writing, the next step is concentration. The first time you wrote about something, you might've found many careless mistakes and that you put events in the wrong order depending on how urgent your idea or memory was. To make your writing easier to read and with a smoother language, begin attempting to concentrate. When I say that, don't write until your vision is blurry and you're sweating. Just put effort in your writing and try to do the best you can. I guaruntee you, that concentration and hard work will pay off. Everyone's quality of writing will vary depending on how good at writing you naturally are. But if you take writing lessons, take caution on how long you take it. Lessons on writing especially can take the fun out if the lesson is long. For writing you need to enjoy it and have good ideas. Writing lessons won't help alot. Remember, all it takes is a little bit of thinking and you'll find a way to make something fun for you and you're on your way to concentrating. I sincerely bid you luck to perfecting an activity to using concentration, a valuable technique that we are blessed with.
