AN EPIC IN
THE MAKING?
With
the band’s new line-up in place and complete, Sydney
four-piece Bluebottle Kiss are set to release the
first taster from their forthcoming fifth album.
To celebrate, they’re doing what
all bands do - tour!
The new single is going to be called
“A Little Bit Of Light”, and will have 4 b-sides
that you won’t be able to get again, with a taster
up on the band’s site.
The b-sides are:
Chained to the Wall
Road Nails
Running into Doors
You Put Out the Fire
It’s the second last number, “Running
Into Doors”, that is now available on the band’s
site.
Everything for the new album is,
apparently, sounding ‘rich’, with the band’s label
manager Nick Carr explaining his experience of visiting
the recording studio thus:

SIMPLE PLAN
K.I.S.S. (AND S.U.C.K.)
Just when you thought mallrat punk-pop
had died and gone to hell...
Montreal-based punk-pop group
Simple Plan are returning to Australia and New Zealand,
playing tin sheds all around.
The five-piece initially
came together when founding members Chuck Comeau
(drums) and vocalist Pierre Bouvier (oh, that name
just ROXXX!!!) founded Reset
at
age 13.
A modest success in Canada, touring the country
with fellow punkers MxPx, Ten Foot Pole, and Face
to Face. A debut album followed in 1997, however
Comeau bowed out quietly to attended college. Two
years later, Comeau let his studies take a back seat
in order for he, guitarist Jeff Stinco (he pongs!),
and Sebastien Lefebvre (another rockin’ name!) to
start making music.
Bouvier was still in charge
of
Reset
during
this time, but grew tired of being both a frontman
and a guitarist. He and Comeau reconnected at a Sugar
Ray show (!) in late 1999 and it wasn’t long until
Bouvier was back with Comeau and the rest of his
mötley crew.
David Desrosiers (bass) who had replaced Bouvier
in Reset joined them,
and
Simple
Plan
was
born.
They first came to attention as
part of the Vans Warped Tour
in 2001,
and Good Charlotte’s Joel
Madden and Mark Hoppus of blink-182 joined Simple
Plan during sessions for the band’s first album,
No Pad, No
Helmets...Just
Balls,
which
appeared in 2003.
For the follow-up,
the band looked to mega-producer Bob
Rock (he of Metallica infamy), who helmed their second
album, Still Not Getting Any..., which
appeared spritely in 2004.
Now the band are touring on the
back of it. There’s a shock! So, blink-182 have broken
up. Sum-41 have gawn metttal. And Simple Plan? Suckitude,
dude! Corporate pop-rock has never sounded CHEESIER.
Oklahoma
act All-American Rejects will fill the middle slot,
with a local band also opening the bill.
