Formerly of the successful local band Height 611, Javier & Beto decided to form their own band to delve into new areas of music. And so they set off following the long, winding yellow brick road that lay before them. On their way to Emerald City, they came across an underrated drummer by the name of Mike who it turns out was heading in the same direction as our heroes. And so the duo quickly became a trio and off they went in search of treasure, fame, and misadventures aplenty.
There was a dream to play & make music. Music that we felt was good ranging from Blink 182 to Creed; Pink Floyd to Green Day; Duran Duran to Incubus; Mana to Pearl Jam. Eventually originals will be written that will hopefully catch the fans' attention the same way our choice in covers will.  For a good time come see Zen

Zen was born on September 1999, almost one month after Javier and Beto amicably split from Height 611 (who have since found replacements for our heroes and are continuing on their musical adventures).  However, our heroes still needed a drummer and after some unsuccessful offers a drummer appeared.  Enter Mike, who by coincidence had known Beto for almost ten years (they went to Riverside High School together and had previously played together in a garage band in high school).    Mike was given the set list and two weeks later Zen played their first gig at Our Place, cozy bar on Dyer Street.  One week later, they played at Chelsea's Street Pub and Zen officially entered the El Paso Music Club circuit.  (Click here to continue...)
