Training plays a vital role in developing quality skills, knowledge and the necessary attitude of the workforce. Amidst fast-paced technological advancement and the rapid rate of knowledge accumulation, it prepares employees to respond to the opportunities and threats brought about by these changes thus, aid in the attainment of company goals. Nevertheless, training is not an end all solution to diverse organizational problems.
Many organizations fall into the wrong notion that training is the cure to all organizational problems.  When productivity and quality declines, training is immediately prescribed to remedy the condition.  Needs vary in many ways therefore it is imperative to distinguish one from the other before making any corrective actions. Without clear understanding of the nature of or the underlying cause of a particular problem before a solution is applied, the much valued company resources are placed at great risk without any guarantee of success.
Needs analysis is a significant process for this purpose. It serves as the trigger mechanism that move's, direct, and shape all the other aspect, not only of the training and development cycle, but also of the whole business planning in general. Because of this critical role, a careful and effective conduct of this process is essential. This workshop aims to help participants identify the need for conducting need analysis in identifying organizational problems. More so, it aims to guide participants distinguish appropriate data-gathering tools which will aid them in their conduct.

TARGET PARTICIPANTS:

Department / Product Group Heads, Functional Trainer and Coordinators.

DURATION

The workshop will run for three (3) days, eight (8) hours each.


V. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the three-day session, learners are expected to be able to design and conduct needs analysis to ensure that intervention & development programs serve the actual needs of the company in general, and the different departments in particular.

Specifically, the workshop will enable participants to:

  • Identify the importance of needs  analysis in the responding to individual and organizational needs;
  • Distinguish the different organizational needs and its appropriate interventions.
  • Design a  needs analysis to ensure that intervention and development programs are responsive and relevant to the business needs or organizational requirements;
