| - The Junkyard Drum Kit The famous junkyard kit is a great imatation of a normal kit as shown in the diagram above. Some reasons for using a junkyard kit over a conventional drum kit are: - it looks cool and it totally unconventional - it provides new tonality to the drum kit, a sound that is rich in texture and is very musical, and a great contrast to the stereotypical drum kit. - it is very easy to construct (and cheap), by simply slipping your conventional pedals on these bins and tins - it inspires fellow drummers/musicians with new ideas and being original, and gives a garbage look to their kit, which thus juxtaposes to great sound - it is a great performance idea for modern drummer as people at festivals and expo's have not seen such a creation As shown above there are 6 "tom toms" far more then any other standard drum kit and two "bass drums", and for what price? Going to your local garbage depot. By simply using milo tins, paint tins as tom toms, and plastic green garbage bins as bass drums, and industrial bins for floor toms, and any other sort of pots and pans as cymbals you can create your own unique junkyard drum kit. |
