A rudiment is a pattern played using just the left and right hand and only requires a snare drum to play. Many begginers find rudiments boring and repetitive until they realise the great importance of rudiments, as every single stroke on the drum kit recquires a form of a rudiment, so if you aren't good at rudiments, your basically not a good drummer.
Once you get better at the following rudiments, you can increase the tempo at which you play and you can also throw in some accents and ghost notes to increase the dynamics. Rudiments can also be turned into cool grooves, espeically the parradiddle set. You can also play great fills by experiemtning with the rudiments and you can also play rudimental solos! |
