When Manchester United were relegated from the 1st Division at the end of the 1973-74 season,it seemed like the end of the world for many followers of the Red Devils.Just 6 years after being crowned Champions of Europe,United were now going to have to play their football at places such as York and Bristol. No disrespect to those teams, but when you've been raised on a diet of Real Madrid and Benfica, these places would take some getting used to. However,Tommy Docherty's young team took the 2nd Division by storm and ensured that United's stay in the lower league would be brief. It was during this season in the 2nd Division that I went to my first game at Old Trafford.I knew then that following the Reds was going to be something special. This website is my tribute to the players and fans who made this short stay in Division 2 an unbelievably enjoyable experience. |
