Welcome to my personal election website!
It is an honor to be nominated as a candidate for the Division VII Delegate-Elect/Director-Elect position to represent Power & Energy Society at IEEE Board level.
The past experience acquired as Vice President for Membership & Chapters activities (2004-2007) and presently as Vice President Chapters provides a wide knowledge of our society to represent our member at IEEE as Division VII Director Elect.
I am an Electrical and Mechanical Engineer graduated from the University of Panama (1991) and also later obtained a Master Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington (1993). Most of my carrier I have worked in power systems covering a wide range of applications from planning, modeling and operations for transmission, distribution and generation. Besides utility work I have worked with consulting companies providing services as a consulting engineer for T&D and generation feasibility studies of new project and developments. Also, I have provided services to construction companies as an electrical designer.
One of my more rewarding work experiences have been the time dedicated as a professor at the Universidad Tecnologica de Panama.
I have been an IEEE volunteer since I joined this great institution in 1979. From a support member to an event organizing committee of the first major conference in Central America and Panama, to all positions in the section board including Section Chair in 1992. As a volunteer I have also been involved in Central America and Panama Council where I served as Secretary/Treasurer for two years. In the regional level I have occupied the position of Technical Activities Chair and Student Activities Coordinator (RSAC). This last one provided me a great interaction with volunteers around the world understanding how global this organizations is becoming.
As a member at large of the IEEE Nominations and Appointments Committee (2005-2007) I had the opportunity to know many IEEE volunteers and understand the internal functioning of IEEE. Since this organization is based on the membership I can say that I was able to see IEEE from inside which will provide the knowledge for a better representation of PES at the IEEE Board.
For the last 4 years I have participated in the PES board as VP for Chapter and Membership Activities also providing numerous contacts with different professionals in the world from the more that 180 chapters PES has.
I accepted the nomination for the position since I feel that with all my background and experience in IEEE I am prepared to represent our society members directly in the IEEE Assembly. I believe that I understand the needs and expectations of our members and we can make the difference having the opportunity to be part of the decision making and implementation of new initiatives which will benefit our members.
In this web site you will find some more information of what my expectations are, activities where I have been involved and also direct contact where you can provide also what your expectations are or any comments that can help us to provide a better service as a volunteer to our membership.
Sincerely,
Enrique Tejera
