ARTISTIC PHILOSOPHY

My goal in making art is to find and call attention to the meaning in the everyday connections that our busy society often overlooks. The way a dull moth is attracted to the bright colors of a flower, or the faces and personalities that can be found in the gnarled trunk of a tree. The infinite order and minute detail in the tiniest plant, or the complex layers of thought and experience in a child's face are the kind of flames that fuel my passion. I believe art can be both beautiful and life changing. I feel the psyche is made of the snapshots we hold in our mind and how readily accessible those images are. Therefore, creating art around the more poetic and meaningful moments of our lives actually makes our lives poetic and meaningful.

Wire Jewelry Experience

I have been wire sculpting and making jewelry for myself and family for five years. I first learned how to make wire sculptures in college seven years ago and came back to it as a way to display my rock and crystal collection.

On a personal note...

I was born in Wyoming to an Air Force city boy and a grown up flower child from the country, who somehow had enough in common to stay happily married to this day. I have two younger brothers, who are too cool in their own very different ways. Together we moved from Wyoming to Arkansas to Indiana to Utah and back to Indiana all before high school. In 1996 I graduated from Edgewood High School, 8th in my class.

I immediately went into college at Indiana University, which I must have loved a lot because I stayed for five years including summers just to get a degree in Studio Art, but I also got a certificate in Art Education K-12, and minors in Art History, and Sociology. There I met my wonderful husband, Steven.

We were married the next year, September 9, 2001. For our 1st anniversary we found out we were expecting. We both graduated in 2002. Steven found a professional job at a nice museum in Tennessee in March, our darling daughter Artessa was born in May and we were living in TN by June of 2003. There, I was a member of the local Friends of Photography guild, and Artz guild where I showed my photography in galleries around town.

We are now Back Home in Indiana, close to our family and have added a baby boy, Graham. I have been working on my home businesses both Rosie Lenses Photography, since 2003, and Earthshaper Art & Jewelry, which is a lifetime in the making (though it just got this formal business name). I hope to someday work for or own my own portrait studio or art gallery unless my jewelry biz takes off. My hobbies are hiking, gardening, writing, and of course, art of any kind. One day when the kids are grown and we are retired Steven and I plan to travel the world or at least North America in our RV.
