President Gloria Macapagal delivered a 1-hour speech:  the State of the Nation Address (SONA) last July 24, 2006 at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City before the Senate and Congress assembled in joint session and attended by a sympathetic crowd from almost all sectors (government, business, military, civil societies, communities and loyal supporters). It was the most applauded public appearance she ever made in her term as president, receiving applauses 166 times and standing ovation twice throughout her speech.
TAMBULI solicited comments and reactions from its readers (Thanks again to Mrs. Nornelyn Cachuela and Miss Grace Abalahin who helped in the distribution and retrieval of the questionnaires)  and these they have said:
" The Mega-Regions Strategy is a LOCAL EXECUTIVES EMPOWERMENT. Local government executives can now move strongly to craft development in their localities." … D. T. S., Barangay Kagawad

"There would be an enhanced National-Local governments partnership and you will now see distribution of powers to the countryside." … Sec. Ignacio Bunye

"With the announcement of Pres. Arroyo to continue the construction of the Manila-Cavite coastal road extension and expansion of LRT from Baclaran to Bacoor is good news for the Caviteños because it will surely ease traffic congestion and improve the mobility of people and business thereby economic development and social progress in Cavite." … Teodoro "Doy" S. Sanchez , host of KAIBIGAN KAHIT KAILAN radio program every Saturday 7:00-8:00 AM at DWSS Radio-1494khz.

" The 'bangkang papel' is forgotten; visible were the ' Igorots in their colorful costumes ?' It showed that old promises were forgotten, and not renewed but replaced with new ones." … E.V. Dayrit, Nursing II

" MRT will extend to Bacoor ? I hope it would be realized soonest and might as well go as far as Dasmariñas so that travel to Metro Manila would be fast and easy. If it would be so, more students from Manila and nearby cities will come to study in Dasmariñas, the soon to be University City."… Jeffrey G. Chatto, Electrical Technology

"It was more of an enumeration of GMA's wishes or New Year's resolutions - some sort of a State of the Future Address or SOFA, something to sit on, my observation. With regards to Cha-cha she mentioned, I  say : It is not the answer to our country's current economic and political problems; the real solution is - a government that recognizes social equality and that which is truly established by the people " … John Carlo E. Estrevencion, Nursing I-7
"It was a wonderful SONA. It was a long list of achievement, success and promises. How I wish that the President also discuss where the funds will come from. I hope those wonderful projects will come "SOON NA!"        … Jaime C. Encabo, Dean, Office of Student Affairs

166 times applauded, GMA's state of the nation Address was great;

'Pista ng Bayan' ginanap

Naging pangulo siya ng  Cavite Vice-Mayors League, Region IV Vice-Mayors League at Vice-Mayors League of the Philippines noong 1995. Nahalal din siyang Provincial Board Member ng Cavite noong 2001.
Sa kasalukuyan, siya ay nanunungkulan sa ating pambansang pamahalaan bilang Special Assistant for Local Government Units and Media Affairs in the Office of the National Security Council at bilang Agency Manager ng Country Bankers Insurance Corporation.
