The Vikes dominate the Giants 36-7, despite the offense turning the ball over twice: once on an interception and once on downs. Favre threw for 330+ yards and 4 tds, and Derrick Brooks was the player of the game with an astounding 5 sacks. The Vikes are now 4-1 and on a two game winning streak.

Minnesota squeeks by with a lot of luck in a surprisingly tough week 4 match up against Cincinatti on the road. The Vikings were spotted a 7-0 lead early when Cincy fumbled deep in their own territory. The Bengals then scored a td and got a pick on the first play of the Vikings next drive, setting up another td and a 14-7 lead. The Vikings added a FG to make it 14-10 at the half. The teams traded td's, and with the Bengals up 21-17 the Vikes started their game winning drive and got to the 1 yard line before being stopped with just over 2 minutes left in the game. Cincinatti threw deep to waste time, and Terrell Owens caught the 90 yard pass at the Vikings 9 and promptly fumbled. The ball bounced around forever and the Vikes finally recovered at the 5. Favre hit Tim Brown with a 77 yard pass, and Ahman Green ran in the TD as time expired, giving the Vikings a crazy 24-21 win.

The Vikings got beat by Tampa, 17-14, in a game in which they had plenty of opportunity to win. This time it was not the running, but the passing game which was off. Favre completed 2 passes and threw an interception. The Vikings defense played admirably and Ahman Green ran wild, but to no avail. The Vikings fall to 2-1.

The Vikings downed Oakland in a rematch of the STL1 bowl. A Recap of the game can be found here. The running game, which was extremely successful last year has been nearly totally shut down this year. Travis Henry only picked up 28 yards, and hopefully when Ahman Green comes back for week 3 the Vikings offense will be two dimensional. The stats and the schedule are up.

The Vikings win a hard fought game against the Niners, 23-17 in OT. The Vikings look a little rusty and had lots of trouble putting SF away. Down 0-7 until late in the half, the Vikings finally scored on a bomb to Randy Moss. The Vikings would then go up 10-7 and 17-7 before choking and letting the Niners tie it up. After S.F. recieved the OT kick, the Vikings held and the game ended on another TD pass to Moss.

After one preseason game, a 42-7 win over the Giants, the Vikings are ready for the regular season. Up first is TecmoEJ, the San Fransisco 49ers -- an expansion team.

Lots of updates to the site today. I fixed some links and bugs and such. The news from last season can be viewed under the link 'old news'. Free agency is over with and the roster is up as well as all free agent changes. The Season one draft is still viewable via a link in the free agency page. Because of expansion, the Vikings lost many players to free agency, including four offensive lineman, their entire defensive line, three out of their four linebackers, and Ray Buchanon. The new defensive line is suspect, as none of the three lineman has any hp. The linebacking staff took a huge hit, as Jason Gildon, Jessie Armstead and Anthony Simmons have all been replaced by slower linebackers with less hitting power and speed. Most of the offense remained intact, although Rod Smith signed elsewhere, leaving the Vikings with one weak reciever in their run and shoot offense. The coaching staff was unusually unprepared as they were unaware of the free agent deadlines and were outbid on nearly every player. Such a huge mistake could come back to bite the Vikings in the rear. Hopefully it is not a bad omen.
