After a bit of a delay, the Vikings win the Super Bowl 24-21 over the Raiders in a fantastic game. No turnovers occured, although each team went 4 and out once, and the Raiders also punted. Oakland was held to about 150 yards of total offense, 122 of it on the ground. Bret Favre threw for 208 yards and 3 tds, all to MVP Troy Brown. Derrick Brooks had 2 sacks, and Troy Vincent had 9 tackles. For a video of the game, click here

The Vikings continued their stellar play yesterday with a 24-17 victory over Tampa Bay in the semi finals. Derrick Brooks led the way on defense with 4 sacks, and Ahman Green pitched in 110 yards averaging 10 yards per carry, giving the Vikings an unstoppable offensive day. The return of Randy Moss was huge, as he caught a 66 yard TD pass in the first quarter. Tampa's Payton Manning threw for 250+ yards on 24 attempts, although he couldn't make it count when it was necessary, as Tampa Bay's offense stalled on a drive in the second quarter, and also on drives at the end of both halves. The Vikings meet up with the Raiders in the Championship, although they will be featuring a much different look with both Randy Moss and Travis Henry back in the lineup. A sweet 35-21 victory over Rod Woodson's Raiders gives the Vikings a first round bye and a tie for first place in the league. Ahman Green took the first play from scrimmage 85 yards for a td and things went from there, as the Vikings played a nearly flawless game without the league's leading reciever or their special teams/short yardage ace Travis Henry.

The Vikings were upset by the recently-invigorated Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who all season have fallen on hard luck and are much better then their 5-4 record would suggest. The Vikings were driving down to take the lead in the second half when Ahman Green fumbled the football. Tampa was forced to punt after some stellar defense, but Randy Moss (subbing for the injured Travis Henry) fumbled the punt, and Tampa took it in for a td to take a 24-14 lead. Randy Moss was then injured on the kickoff, and Ahman Green fumbled on the next play, sealing the Vikings fate. Minnesota had the only defensive stop of the game, although their three lost fumbles were too much to overcome. The injuries to Moss and Henry will be devestating in the upcoming week 10 game with Oakland, which will almost certainly determine the bye week in the playoffs.

A crushing 17-28 week 7 loss to Oakland in which the Vikings lost two crucial fumbles was followed by a 35-7 shellacking of the Giants. The Vikings have a tough road ahead with the Bucs in week 9 and the Raiders again in week 10, but don't expect the Vikings to panic. Stats and schedule are updated, summaries will be updated soon.

Two more weeks of the season have progressed, and the Vikings have found their running game with a mix of Travis Henry and Ahman Green. Green ran for 120+ yards in a 35-21 win over the Saints, and against the Bucs he ran for 110 (55 officially due to a fumble of a 55 yard run), with Henry pitching in 70+ against the Bucs. The Tampa Bay game was close, with the Bucs tying it up at 28 with 1:30 left. The game ended as the Vikings, led by long runs from Green and Henry advanced from their own 18 to the Bucs 27 for a game winning Jason Elam field goal with 8 seconds left. The schedule and the gmae summaries sections have been updated, however the stats will not be updated for a few more days.
