| On the contrary to most people, (and the ignorant rascists), its not all that hard to read Japanese, and to comprehend the various letters (to a point). Now to actually understand what they are saying.... thats another story. | ||||||||||||||||
| The Japanese have 3 different kinds of writing systems. They are called "Hiragana", "Katakana", and "Kanji". Hiragana was the first type of writing system used by the Japanese, and is still used today, however to a lower extent. Katakana was created after Hiragana, and is usually used for words barrowed from different countries, names, and a few other things I cant recall at this time. Kanji is using barrowed chinese characters to substitute for objects, and things in real life. Kanji is also used for wtiring Japanese Names. Below this text you can see a Hiragana and Katakana chart. The top being Hiragana (if you pay attention you can actually read what it says on the side), and the bottom being Katakana (Ditto). *NOTE: No I can't read Katakana fluently, as I do Hiragana. Katakana is Level 2 Japanese Class, and I'm in Level 1. Kanji is way beyond me except for numbers.* The systems are used intertwined daily. A good example are the Disney Theme Park Guides in Japanese. You can get a good look at J.W. from those. | ||||||||||||||||
