While Drexel is interested in Robert Hampton for his basketball prowess, he is a unique two-sports star: He is the first player from Christ the King High in Queens, N.Y., to be all-city in two sports. The 6-4 Hampton is an all-city wide receiver. Hampton has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball for the Dragons. During his senior season, he averaged 15.6 points and about six rebounds. Said Drexel coach Bruiser Flint: "He's our type of player: hard-nosed, tough. He's not the player I went to see [at Christ the King]. The more I saw him though, I thought, 'He's pretty good.' " Hampton completes Drexel's recruiting class. Earlier, the Dragons signed 6-5 Lance Feurtado, of Uniondale, N.Y., and 6-8 Yannick Formbor-Nono, of St. Patrick's High in Elizabeth, N.J. Also, Randy Hampton has told Flint he plans to transfer. He averaged 2.1 points last season and didn't play in the last six games. Philly.com: New York swingman joins Drexel |
