General Examination Schedule            Back to home page

Any dimness of vision after age of 50 does not necessarily mean cataract. It may be more serious disease like Glaucoma, affection of retina by diabetes or any aging process. Please confirm the diagnosis by your eye surgeon; otherwise it may be too late.

Please get your child’s eyes examined, at least once before age of five, even though he appears to be normal. Because early detection & correction of any problem before age of 6 will prevent permanent damage to a child’s vision.

If your child is seeing television with screwed up (narrowed) eyes, having frequent headache, making many mistakes in class-work notebook, can’t read from blackboard, he may require spectacle. Consult your eye surgeon.

Power of spectacle usually increases till age of 18-20 years. So get your bespectacled child’s eyes examined every 6-8 months by your eye surgeon.

At age of 40 years people usually require separate number for near work like reading etc. For any difficulty in near work, consult your eye surgeon.

Diabetes patients should have eye (retinal) check up at least once in a year even though there is no difficulty. This will prevent blinding complication.

After age of 40 years everyone should get eye pressure (Glaucoma) measured at least once every year.

Glaucoma patient should put the prescribed eye drops for lifetime. He should have follow-up at least every 6 months.

Do not use steroids eye drop/tablets containing prednisolone, dexamethasone without consulting your doctor, as prolonged use may lead to cataract, glaucoma, flare of infection
