Tables, quotes, images, geez!
If you have your own site, or are on another which allows blog-like posting and want to issue your own challenge, these are extremely useful. If you're not doing your own challenge it's probably better to know how prompts and challenges work in general.
First, the challenge:
A method of encouraging frequent writing. Challenges are placed mainly on forums with a theme or prompt that the responders must write with, a few rules to ensure that the posts do not get messy and the challenge goes smoothly, a prize which is often a banner(graphic bar spanning site page to announce/advertise something) for the member's profile or a regular graphic(probably animated or specially made) or just general "street cred." Often the prize is just supposed to be the writing itself, but Livejournal communities and large blogs will often offer up at least a graphic of some kind.
So what's a prompt?
It's a single word, phrase, quote or image meant to prompt inspiration and a like-minded drabble. Basically it's the thing you're supposed to write about. Many Livejournal communities will put up a table of prompts this is basically a table full of single words, and depending on the challenge you either choose a word, or write off as many of the prompts as you can.
You want to start you own challenge? Want to look like you know what you're doing?
Well, first decide: do you want a prompt?
