WHAT
IT MEANS TO BE AN AMERICAN By
Erica Wilson This is
one of the most compassionate countries in the world. We are very
concerned about the welfare of people in America and other countries. Many
children in other countries don’t get an education, especially girls.
We are very lucky to receive an excellent education. Everyone has a
right to get an education. Well-educated people will help keep our
country powerful. Everyone
has a responsibility in America. Young teens and grown-ups have a
responsibility to take care of the elderly and others who just need
help. Young children have the responsibility of respecting their gifts
such as school and a secure home with a family who loves them. In
America, we have affordable housing for people who need it. I have
very strong feelings about being an American. I am grateful that I can
pick the religion I want. I know that I will be able to choose my own
career. Seeing flags everywhere makes me feel joyous and proud. I know I
am lucky to be an American. The flag
is one of our most important symbols of freedom. The Stars and Stripes
represent our liberty and justice. We all need to respect our country.
We have been through a lot these past months and we are coming back
strong. No country or person is perfect, but we should all appreciate
living in the best country in the world.
