PERFORMANCE CLASSES
General
1. In all classes where horses compete collectively, all horses shall be worked at all gaits both directions of the ring unless otherwise described by class specifications, and will be asked to reverse direction at either the walk, jog trot, or trot. Judges are required to consider the performance at each gait equally in adjudicating performance classes.
2. Any performance class may be divided at show management's discretion. When a class is divided, A) duplicate awards may be given, or B) management may direct that the top contestants from each group return to the ring for final adjudication (Exception: classes which require individual tests). If duplicate awards are given, horse and/or rider may not compete in more than one section of the class which has been divided. The method of dividing classes is at management's discretion.
4. Horses must come to the line up at the gait requested. In the line up, horses must stand quietly and may be asked to back individually or as a group.
6. Extremes of temperature or climate conditions or time of day may modify the requirements for attire specified in this rule book.
7. Bandages and boots of any type are prohibited except in Jumper classes and Speed Events. In the event of injury, the judge may permit a protective bandage. In the case of inclement weather, show management may permit the use of bell boots and/or protective bandages on the front legs
SADDLE SEAT DIVISION
Appointments: Bridle shall be light, show type; either single curb, single snaffle, curb and snaffle, or pelham bit. No martingales,tie-downs, hackamores, draw reins, etc. English-type saddle; no forward seat saddles allowed. Informal saddle seat attire is required; no hunt attire. Suggested are conservative colors such as black, blue, grey, beige or brown jacket with matching jodhpurs. Day coat with jodhpurs also permitted. Boots and derby, soft hat or protective headgea rrequired. Contrasting hats, vests and/or ties are acceptable. Unrowelled spurs, whip or crop optional, however, excessive use of whip/spurs will be cause for dismissal from the class.
Equitation -
Riders should convey the impression of effective and easy control. The equitation seat should not be exaggerated, but be thoroughly efficient and most comfortable for riding the type of horse called for at any gait and for any length of time. To show a horse well, he or she should show himself or herself to the best advantage. Ring generalship shall be taken in to consideration by the judge; however, poor ring manners will be penalized. Class is to enter the ring and proceed around the ring at each gait, and on command, reverse and repeat. The order to reverse may be executed by turning either towards or away from the rail. Entries shall line up on command and the judge may ask for additional workouts from any or all contestants.

Pleasure -
Competitors enter the ring in a counterclockwise direction, at thenormal trot or pleasure gait. Horses are to be shown at a flat-footed walk, square trot (with rider posting) or pleasure gait, and canter. Light contact must be maintained with all reins at all gaits. A judge may not request that gaits be performed on ly on the snaffle or curb. Horses are to be worked both ways of the ring at all gaits. They shall not be asked to extend the canter. An extended trot is optional. Horses are to be brought to a flat-footed walk before changing gaits. Horses may revers inside (away from the rail) or outside (toward the rail) . They may be required to reverse at the walk, trot or pleasure gait at the discretion of the judge, but shall not be asked to reverse at the canter. Hroseas are to stand quietly and back readly. Boots of any descriotion for use on te horse are prohibited. Judges are required to consider the performance at each gait equally in adudicating this class. Horses are to be judged on performance and ability to give a good pleasure ride with emphasis on style, manners, and gait. It is the imperative that the horse give the distinct appearance of being a pleasure to ride. A quiet, responsive mouth is paramount
HUNT SEAT DIVISION
Appointments: Bridle shall be hunter type; either snaffle, pelham, full bridle or kimberwick bit acceptable. Browband/cavessons other than hunter and dressage types not permitted. Metal ornamented bridles or browbands or cavessons are not permitted. Saddle seat style colored browbands/cavessons and/or figure eight, drop, or flash nosebands are not permitted. No martingales, tie-downs, hackamores, draw reins, etc. permitted. Breastplate or breast collar is optional. Type of English saddle is optional, but forward seat type saddle recommended; no cutback (saddle seat) saddles allowed. Horses may be shown with braided mane and tail. Informal attire of suitable material for hunting is required. It consists of conservatively colored coat , breeches, and tall boots. (Children may wear jodhpurs with garter straps and paddock boots.) A conservatively colored hunting cap, derby or protective headgear is mandatory. Unrowelled spurs and crop or bat, no longer than 30" including lash, are optional, however, excessive use of the whip/spurs will be cause for dismissal from the class.

Rider should have like appearance; seat and hands light and supple, conveying the impression of complete control should any emergency arise. Class is to enter the ring and; proceed around the ring at each gait, and on command, reverse and repeat. The order to reverse may be executed by turning either towards or away from the rail. Light contact with the horse's mouth is recommended. Entries shall then line up on command and any or all riders may be asked by the judge for additional workouts.

Pleasure -
Competitors enter the ring in a counterclockwise direction at the trot or pleasure gait. Horses are to be shown at a walk, trot or pleasure gait, and canter in both ways of the ring. Judges are required to consisder the performance of each gait equally in adjudicating this class. Horses are required to back but the judge may require, at his discretion, the backing of only the finalists in the class. Emphasis shall be placed on actual suitablity to purpose. It is the judge's option to require an exhibitor to extend any gait. Horses are to be reversed to the inside (away from the rail) or to the outside (towards the rail). They may be required to reverse aaat the walk or trot /pleasure gait at the discretion of the judge, but shall not be asked to reverse at the canter. Horses are to back easily and stand quietly. Light contact with horse's mouth must be maintained at all gaits
