My Family History

My MASSEY line has caused me more trouble than any other.   After ten years, I am still only back to 1796 !   The first definite trace of my Gt Gt Grandfather William is his marriage in 1818, and in the 1851/61 Census he showed his birthplace as Chester c1796:  so far, all my efforts and those of several other people to find his birth or baptism have failed.  He named his first daughter and second son after his in-laws, so from his childrens' names, perhaps his own parents were John and Mary.

A John and Mary had a daughter Charlotte baptised at Ruabon in 1790, but I can not trace any other events for them in the area: did they do as many others did, and migrate to Chester or further afield ?   Where did they marry ?  If you know anything, please Email me, also if you have a spare William born c1796, perhaps with parents John and Mary.

In the 1840-50s, my MASSEYs lived at Gyfelia, Ruabon, and there was another MASSEY family living nextdoor:  so far I have not established a connection, but if you know better, please Email me.

Although there are MASSEYs in Wrexham and Ruabon at the present time, so far as I can trace, they are not connected with my family., but if you have connections there and want to compare notes, E-mail me
