The SUTTON family, although I have never known any of them, are an interesting crowd. Unlike most of my other lines, they stayed put in one place (Frodsham, Cheshire) for several generations, and are another connection with the innkeeping trade. I may have discovered a pointer to Peter's earlier days in a will referring to "Peter Sutton, Miller of ffrodsham:" Watch this sapce.
All the earlier information depends on Emma and Emily (b1836) in various records being the same person: she appears as either in baptism and census records, as Emma on her marriage certificate: she even got the name of her father wrong on the latter, but as he had died when she was three (and her mother a few years later), a mistake is understandable. (Just in case you think I am assuming anything, I can let you have full chapter and verse, E-mail me.)
William (1804) and his wife Hannah both died young, and most of their children died in childhood. The only one I have traced after the death of Hannah (apart from Emma and Ellen in 1901)is William, with a Rathbone uncle in Birmingham unclein 1851: Both he and the uncle disappeared from all Census indexes after that date.

Notes:
Various things make me think that Ester may not have been Peter's first
wife, nor perhaps the mother of these children.
I have more detail on many of these SUTTONS, Email me (click at end
of page) for information.
All events at Frodsham unless stated. All surnames SUTTON unless shown.
My ancestors underlined.
THere were a couple in Winwick (then Lancashire, now Cheshire) named Peter and Esther Sutton at the same time as those above, but they are not linked, being part of a long established family there both before and after the relevent dates.
