Nova Scotia Duck-Tolling Retriever

The Nova Scotia Duck-Tolling Retriever does much the same job as the Dutch Kooikerhindje, but uses a different method to trap susceptible ducks and other waterfowl. The constant waving of their tails lures ducks near enough for hunters to shoot them, after which the dogs retrieve them.
The breed stands around 51cm (20in) and has a medium length red or orange coat with plenty of feathering, especially on the tail. This breed is blessed with a cheerful nature and enjoys being taught to be an all around helper. He can make a good member of the household, but it remains yet to be seen whether his number will increase.
Size: Small: 43-55cm (17-21.5in), 17-23kg (37.5-50.5lb)
Grooming: Medium; medium-length coat, plenty of feathering. Coat is naturally water repellent. Needs to be brushed regularly
Character: Playfull, devoted and loving. Very intelligent and trainable. Will only bark when danger is present.
Pet Suitability: Loyal companions, need lots of exercise. Suited to urban or county life. Well mannered and patient. Good with children and other dogs.
