- ACOUSTIC STAGE - For some years now the five piece band 'Doghouse' have been hosting the Acoustic Stage of the annual Big Wheel Blues Festival. This takes place in May in the grounds of The Shore Hotel down by the riverside in lower Laxey. 
The Acoustic Stage Marquee - Big Wheel Blues Festival 2001
This event has grown exponentially from a P.A. set up, on the grass, in the corner of the car park to this year's marquee, stage, god knows how many K sound rig and lighting. With enormous help and support from Merrill Lynch, Paul and his wife at the Shore, the festival team and the many players and bands who take part, the acoustic event has become tremendous fun to do and to take part in and many, many festival-goers make this stage one of their main ports of call over the course of the weekend-long event. This stage has been more or less entirely devoted to the musical showcasing of local talent but when possible we have introduced the odd guest or two who have been playing elsewhere in the Festival. There is, however, so much local choice that it is hard these days to find space for more than one or two special guests such is the Island's musical riches! The THE BIG WHEEL BLUES FESTIVAL ACOUSTIC STAGE 2002 will, like the Festival as a whole, be held in May 2002 and preparations are already at an advanced stage. This may seem somewhat early but there is a great deal to be sorted behind the scenes and time slips by perilously quickly. Check out the Festival 2002 page for details.
