Anna's brother Fred wrote this: Anna was the oldest girl. She was loved by everyone. She went to college to be a teacher. She taught country schools for years and years. It seems she had taught about every country school in miles of Parkersburg. I used to drive her to school when weather or roads were bad. Many times I would drive her within a mile of her school (as far as I could get) and she would walk the rest of the way. Ann had to start a fire in winter. Her salary part of the time was $20 to $30 a month. She was the main stay or support of the family during the Depression. She helped to pay the bills for many things and kept the family going. She was a hard worker not only with her teaching, but with work at home. When Anna died in 1958, many, many people came to the funeral.
