Locals and Beny's

James Ostergren

Locals are easy to figure out. BENY's are those that either own a house down on Long Beach Island and use it as a summer home or those who have consistently rented a house down there (often the same house) for more than 10 years. BENY is an acronym for the areas these people tend to come south from (Bergen, Essex and New York). One thing worse is a Shubee - which happens to stand for the type of person who wears his/her shoes to the beach. A wretched sort for sure.

This section will be a place to learn, through profiles and actual accounts, of various locals and beny's I know quite well. Believe me, it is hard to classify myself as a BENY, but I have to these days.
