This weekend was full of spirit - the partying kind that is, and started as early as Monday. As hard as it is to see Bryce leave, I must say it is a damn good thing and I wish Karey the best of luck. Ha! Just kidding. We will all miss da' Bushe (phonetically challenged today folks) and wish the 2 of them much success in work, play and the overall marriage.
Ok, without being long-winded (too late), I will give a play-by-play (it is official folks, I have been hanging out with Snider too much when I use basketball terminology on a daily basis) of this past weekend.
Friday With the full-on help provided by Snider, Cindy and Salina, the party at the 3rd floor of the AB&G was made into an actual party. The villain in this one is a relative of Bryce's who foiled the surprise attack (the photos)by lacking stealthy characteristics. Anyway, Jen got the picture (with another one underneath it - a surprise nontheless) to Cindy who would later blow it up at work on poster board. It looked great and thanks for the effort. Salina brought balloons and weights for them. People started to slowly make it up to the new room and soon the food followed. Some people in attendance really made the night. We had the return of Mike Altman, Justin Gornell, Kate Newton, Cara Fitz, Nicole Murphy, Allison Giordana and her fiancee Ray as well as the Parsons-Ducey connection. Steve Matri and Calabrese also made an appearance as did Pat Crean and Mr. (Dr.?) Borin and his wife. The party was a success I think - which boiled down means that everyone got wasted. Some people, I liked to see were very responsible and walked home or got rides or stayed in town (if they no longer live here). Good work.
Saturday Options galore today. Some opted to go to Hoboken for the annual St. Patty's Day parade. Others like myself stayed home and did some chores and crap - still others got pulled over on their way home from the Hobokon Drinking Frenzy. Oh, I also watched the South Park movie with Jen and Pat. We decided that hell will be our last stop just for watching the darn flick. Moving on... It was Bryce and Karey's official Engagement party and man was it a great time. Not only were most of the local G crew there, but the parents. Got to see a lot of old faces and did some great schmoozing with the older crowd. Had a terrific conversation with Mr. Captain Morgan as well as Mr. Minicucci, Mr. and Mrs. Gornell and Guarini, joined in on a Schaeffer beer (in a can) conversation with Mr. and Mrs. Thorsland and a slew of others including our old Highlands nurse. Crazy. The food was phenomenal (sushi taboot). Mr. Minicucci cooked me up some pasta, Polombo got teary eyed after downing a large chunk of wasabi, and I think its safe to say that the desserts (chocolate canolis, cheesecake, and fruit pastry cake things) all were fantastic. And what is a weekend for me without meeting a girl I found to be quite nice and attractive. Without mentioning any names, Hi there, you-know-who, but I doubt she'll see this. We left the Bushell's - after eating, drinking and writing on their bathroom walls only to head out to the G. We pulled a late shift there and witnessed the fine Paramedics of Allendale help some dude that got drunk and fell down the back (secret) staircase. Trae Bryce and Gornell were having a nice moment there and was good to see this triumvirate of friends having a blast. I left early - not wanting to get to the stage of "Blind-drunk" and called it a night.
Sunday Brunch was in effect. I was in no mood or ability to drink or eat. So I passed. I also denied Mattias and Stiles on a trip to the Museum of Natural History. I wanted to go but had things I had to take care of at home for the folks. Went home, got that done and got a call from JR to meet for late Brunch. So, off I go, back to the G for round 2. This time I am hungry and in the mood for a drink. A bacon cheeseburger club (w/fries) and 2 Bloody Mary's later I am feeling in the mood for the couch. As (almost) always, I succeed in this goal. So the rest of the night was just hanging out. Oh, that is not true. I forgot. Yikes! Watched the Sopranaos with JR having his long anticipated cameo appearance. Then went to the G for celebration drinks. In attendance were JR, Danielle, Amy, Alex Aubrey Smith and his sister and some others. Had too many shots of Jager and ended up hertin' in the morning. Oh well.
Monday Monday was the last of Au revoirs for Bryce. Pete and Kenny came back, Suzy Edwards, Snider, Chris DeGaetano, Cindy, Polizzi, Amy, Trae, Carolyn Edwards and I were in attendance as well. I'll give you one guess where we were. It was wing and vegetable night as well and had our fare share. Excuse the pun. Seeing Bryce off was tough but muted by discussions of really nasty emails, nasty porn and a brief but unforgettable game of I never where Trae admitted to never having sex with a dog. No one drank on that one. Thank gd. So that was that. I left Amy with my red truckers hat (Coast Crane Body Specialists) and left the G with knowing that Bryce and Karey will be having a blast in Coloraddy. Best of luck you two and we'll see you this summer.
