Seamus
began his DJ career in the mid 80s; playing a mixture of early
House, Soul, Funk and Hip-Hop at various house parties, warehouses and
clubs around London. He eventually landed a residency at The Satellite
club in London which ran from 94-97 whilst doing regular
guest spots at clubs like as MOS, Garage City, Release the Pressure,
Hard Times & Back to Basics.
Seamus began
to spread his sound through the rest of the major capitals around the
world holding a monthly residency at the reputable D-Club in Lausanne,
Switzerland and a summer residency for the last 2 years at Pacha in
Ibiza. In the UK he also held monthly residencies at the Ministry of
Sound in London, Babooshka @ Code in Birmingham and Bed in Sheffield.
Seamus has now started his new Saturday residency at the newly opened
and highly acclaimed Pacha in London.
On the A&R
front, after working for ten years at various London record shops including
Red, Release The Groove and Uptown, Seamus acquired the position of
A&R/Label Manager at Slip N Slide at the beginning of
98 - where he signed, When I Fall In Love by Sybil
and Why Is It Wrong To Love You by Amira. In the summer
of 99 he defected to Defected to take on the role of Promotions/A&R
signing his first top 20 hit Rise by Eddie Amador
and many hits since which then promoted him to A&R Manager. Seamus
left Defected at the end of 2001 to pursue his DJing & Production
commitments in 2002.
Journalism is
an area in which Seamus became involved purely for the love of music.
After writing for various publications such as Blues & Soul, Touch
and Echoes, he managed to secure the Garage column for Muzik magazine
and has done so for the last 5 years, suffering their relentless piss-taking
for his looks along the way manly & masterful,
smouldering lothario and official: the most handsome
man in Dance music amongst others!! Seamus also writes regular
guest reviews for Italian dance magazine Discoid.
Radio is another
passion and he previously held a regular 2-hour mix show on Station
One in Italy, has performed guest mixes on Radio 1, Kiss 100, The Galaxy
Network and stations in Portugal, Paris, Switzerland and Miami and went
on to hold his own show on Ministry of Sound Radio, 87.7FM throughout
their RSL license for October 2001. He recently had the honour of doing
the prestigious Radio 1 Essential Mix for which he has earned much critical
acclaim.
Seamus has been
producing and remixing for the last 8 years and more recently under
the guise of Big Bang Theory (BBT). His previous work includes All Nite
E.Ps for Slip N Slide and When U Touch Me featuring Carolyn
Harding for Z Records, all supported by the likes of Little Louie Vega,
Danny Tenaglia, CJ Mackintosh and Derrick Carter. His remake of Dinosour
Ls classic Go Bang on New Yorks Kult label was given the
ultimate seal of approval by Francois Kervorkian - the tracks
original mixer; and Race of Survival, which Seamus produced and co-wrote
under the Sonz Of Soul moniker, became an anthem for both Tony Humphries
and Paul Anderson in its day. Not forgetting his awesome remix of the
Roy Ayers & Fela Kuti afro-beat classic, 2000 Black by Splice Of
Life.
Seamus has been
responsible for mixing many of Defecteds compilations including
Independence, Defcom 2 and Ritmo Latino. He re-mixed Love Is Not A Game
by J Majik feat Kathy Brown for the label and also produced I
Got You - a vocal project under the name of Mekkah featuring Brian
Chambers (Cleptomaniacs All I Do fame) on offshoot label
Union Square. Gods Child was the latest of Seamus
Big Bang Theory outings. It was championed by Danny Rampling, Pete Tong,
Judge Jules and Seb Fontaine all summer 2001and when released through
Defected entered the Top 50 of the UK National Pop Charts. His latest
production, Beat Goes On, a deeper more futuristic production
under new moniker 11th Dimension, received props from Junior Sanchez,
Kidstuff, King Unique, Roger Sanchez, Tedd Patterson, Hector Romero,
Tim Deluxe, Rulers Of The Deep and The Lab Rats. Seamus star is
definitely in the ascendant for the year 2003 and ahead!
