a summary of 'the beginning' -
koby simmons is an above average 15 year old sophomore who attends an elite private school and plays on their j.v. soccer team. she lives alone with her mother, who is an executive manger at one of the lucrative dupont companies located in delaware. koby is a student gifted in the area of writing and she one day hopes to persue a career in writing, so she attends the richmond school of the fine arts (r.s.f.a). for the most part, her life is normal.
one day, however, everything changes.
after an intense soccer game with r.s.f.a's rival team, koby is approached by two familiar looking strangers who compliment her on a well played game. they introduce themselves as haruka and michiru. little does koby know that they are actually sailor senshi, haruka as sailor uranus and michiru as sailor neptune, and that they have been searching for koby for some time now.
after koby has a foreboding dream, haruka and michiru tell koby the startling truth of who she is, how she must help save the world from an approaching evil, and what her disturbing dreams really mean.
'the beginning' deals with koby's initial discovery of her former life, how she deals with it, her training, and the interpretation of her dreams which portray the coming evil.
