| Magic Kingdom - Adventureland 1. Swiss Family Tree House - The Swiss Family Tree is a Disneyodendron, which means "out of the ordinary tree." 2. Swiss Family Tree House - Look for the crates with addressess outside the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House. One is addressed to Johann David Wyss, the author of the book Swiss Family Robinson. The crate is being sent to McGuire Blvd. (Dorothy McGuire was Mother Robinson in the movie. ) There is another crate addressed to John Mills who was Father Robinson in the movie. This crate is being sent to Bora Danno. This is a tribute to the actor who played Fritz Robinson, James MacArthur. MacArthur later played Detective Danny Williams in Hawaii Five-0. His character's nickname was Danno. 3. Jungle Cruise - As you walk into the Jungle Cruise (outside the entrance by the Fast Pass) notice the sign that reads, "River Cruise, Exodic Jungle Cruise Expedition, Comfortable Accomodations, Trained Tour Guides, We Have Yet to Loose a Boat". The last line item becomes very funny when you see the chalkboard in the exit area! 4. Jungle Cruise - In the exit area there is a large green chalkboard with the names of the missing people and boats. Remember the sign at the entrance? The boats are never LOST, they're just MISSING! One missing boat is Run Around Sue! The missing people include Al BeLaite, B.N Eaton, Emma Boylen, C.M. Cooken, , Ilene Dover, Anne Fellen, Seaum Yett, Albert Knot, and Betty Dont. Great play on words! 5. Jungle Cruise - Be sure to check out the menu board while standing in line. Sounds like some appetizing fare! Hope everyone likes chicken! According to the sign, "Monday is Fricasse of Giant Stag Beattle (tastes a bit like chicken), Tuesday is Barbecued Three Toed Skink (has a chicken flavor), Wednesday is Consomme of River Basen Slug (poultry like), Thursday is Fillet of Rock Python (chicken-esque), and Friday is Chicken (REALLY)!" 6. Jungle Cruise - There is some word play in the sign naming the Jungle Naviation Company's Employee of the Month. Try saying E. L. O'Fevre. That's something you sure don't want while on the cruise! The sign also states that you should forward your congratulations and condolences to Mr. O'Fevre's next of kin. 7. Jungle Cruise - Look at the large wooden planter boxes outside of the queue. The boxes read "Evan's Exotic Plant Exporters." Bill Evans was the one who selected the plants to give Adventureland its tropical feel. In reality, Bill probably imported more plants than he exported! 8. Jungle Cruise - The water in the river is dyed brown to make it look real and so that you don't notice that it is only 3.5 feet deep! 9. Jungle Cruise - The names of the two crocodiles on the Jungle Cruise are Ol' Smiley and Ginger. Watch your fingers because "Ginger Snaps"! 10. Pirates of the Carribean - The chess game being played by the two pirates is locked in perpetual checkmate! 12. Bwana Bob's - This store in Adventureland is a tribute to Bob Hope. Bob was a good friend of Walt Disney and helped open Disneyland, Magic Kingdom and MGM Studios. Bob Hope starred in a 1963 movie titled "Call Me Bwana". |
