Disney Tips and Tricks
Magic Kingdom - Frontierland

1.  Frontierland - Look down at the main walkway (which is also the parade route). Instead of just plain cement there's also and area a couple feet wide that goes all the way down the walkway and looks like a brownish/yellow gravel. In frontier times the streets were filled with horses.  The gravel represents what the horses left behind as they went down the street.

2.  Frontierland - Marshall Jack Dalton can be found walking around Frontierland.  He and other wild west characters such as prospector "Gold Dust Gus" blend into the landscaping.  These cast members are more than happy to interact with you in improv.

3.  Country Bear Jamboree's Grizzly Hall - You may notice that the floor is a bit distressed. Closer inspection will reveal that those are actually claw marks!

4.  Country Bear Jamborree - The voice of Big Al is Tex Ritter!

5.  Splash Mountain - Disney imagineers like to incorporate part of themselves in the attractions they create.  The imagineer who created Splash Mountain is no exception. Just before the Big Drop, a little squirrel (weasel) pops out from the ceiling and in a high pitched voice says "F-S-U" , which stands for Florida State University. The school where the imagineer graduated.

6.  Frontierland Train Station - If you're a fan of the film Mary Poppins, you may remember this exchange between Bert and Uncle Albert:

Bert: "Speaking of names, I know a man with a wooden leg named Smith."
Uncle Albert: "What's the name of his other leg?"

If you do remember it, (or even if you don't!), be sure to visit the Frontierland Train Station and look for a wooden leg among the props. It has a label on it that says, you guessed it, Smith!

7.  Big Thunder Rail Road - High noon is the best time to ride this coaster.  The heat of the Florida sun has had time to heat the grease on the tracks so the train goes faster!  It will go faster than Space Mountain!

8.  Big Thunder Rail Road - Check out the name on the explosive crates.  One says, "Lytun & Hyde Explosives Company".  A good play on words!

9.  Big Thunder Rail Road - When your train is going up the 2nd lift (in actual terms, "B-lift"), and you pass the goat with the stick of dynamite in its' mouth, look to your left and toward the bottom as you almost complete the turn and you will see a giant set of human toes carved into the rock formation. You'll need to sit in the first seat to get a really good look at it because the train is going too fast otherwise. One of the men working on the construction before the attraction was opened actually broke his toe while on the job and carved an unbelievable likeness of his two toes sticking out of a cast!

10.  Big Thunder Rail Road - Each of the 6 trains are named.  They are:  I.M. Brave, I.M. Fearless, I.B. Hearty, U.B. Bold, U.R. Daring, and U.R. Courageous.

11.  Tom Sawyer's Island - If you are on one of the first few trips to the Island, see if you can find the hidden paintbrushes.  Turn them in to the boat captain or a Cast Member on your way back and s/he'll give you a Fastpass to a nearby ride.

12.  Tom Sawyer's Island Harper's Mill - You hear the creaks and groans of the mill wheel as you walk through?  The noises actually play the song "Down by the Old Mill Stream."
