The first thing on your mind when you start a new game is 'Who shall I be'? There are certain rules and a lot of advice on Character Creation. Please read them.

We currently restrict players to a single character, as multiple characters tend to be abandoned.

If you wish to start a new character please email a God with your reasons for wanting to change character.

Please note that characters that appear in the Discworld books are NPCs (non-player-characters) and are not available to players. Otherwise there would be several hundred Rincewinds running around the place. We're sure you can come up with something equally imaginative yourselves.

There are many races to choose from on the Disc, but they are often different to how you may encounter them in other books. Please read the description of the race you would like to play, to give you an idea of how they should be played, and if they suit the character you want. To check out the races pages click one of the

Links.

Many races, including humans, come from a variety of different locations around the Disc, each with its own unique way of dressing, cooking, swearing, naming people and its own funny accent. If you would like to create a more unusual character I suggest you read the pages and select an unusual country of origin.

Two remaining factors for the actual creation of the character (before you start looking at what they're going to be doing) are name and sex.

For names there are many examples within the Discworld books themselves, although as was mentioned previously these are only examples and you should make your own up, as actual Discworldian characters are npcs and not available for play. Places like Omn and Klatch have some very unusual names.

The answer to the sex question (apart from 'yes please') should be thought about. In many RPGs I've played there is a huge surplus of males, and barely any females. So much so that in one particular game, my character who is a foul-

mouthed elvan soldier (female) with a bad attitude and a worse temper had three guys chasing after her. (Which was highly amusing.)

I'm not saying that if you create a female character you should instantly be looking to pair up with some guy, far from it, its just that a nice balance is far more preferable, and on the Disc, the Equal Rites movement is in full swing. These are Interesting Times. (ok, enough of that silliness.)

Once you've decided all this, you'll want to go and Register your character. Its advisable that you thes return to this page and continue with the Character Creation and New Player Orientation.

Starting Skills and Possessions

Each Character is presumed to have had a life before coming to Ankh Morpork, and so may start the game with one partially developed skill. This may not include wizardry or assassination as there is only one school for each in the whole of the Disc, and you must enroll in these to be trained.

Each Character starts out with:

500 Ankh Morpork Dollars

A one room flat over a shop in lower Morpork (Worth 1000 AM dollars if you sell it.)

A dagger

3 Cut Me Own Throat Dibbler's Extra Special Sausages Inna Bun

One set of clothes (robe, shirt and trousers, blouse and skirt, or something similar, plus a pair of shoes.)

One tool of your trade (skill you are trained in. eg. If you're a musician, you may have an instrument. If you're a barbarian invader, you'll probably have a sword.) Not allowed to be magical in any way.

And once that's all sorted out, its time to head to the
