TIPS FOR TOURISTS

Dos

Don'ts

Enjoy the beauty and variety of our art galleries, heritage attractions, churches and monasteries, parks and gardens and entertainment places

Try to attend Romanian family celebrations and get familiar with our customs and traditions.

Try  our traditional food and drink: "sarmale" (mince-meat rolled in cabbage) and "tuica" (a kind of plum brandy).

Shake hands with men and women when you meet them for the first time.

Learn the basics of our language (e.g. Multumesc=Thank you). We'll appreciate your effort!

Take a map with you when you go sightseeing in Bucharest.

Don't drive in Bucharest, the traffic is very heavy.

Don't eat too much traditional food: sarmale (mince-meat rolled in cabbage) and mititei (grilled meatballs). They are delicious, but in large quantities they may cause indigestion.

Don't exchange currency in the street.

Don't buy things from street vendors.

Don't take your eyes off your luggage.
