| Ajahn Suchart Subsin in action. A local of Nakhon Si Thammarat, Ajahn Suchart is a highly respected performer of shadow puppet and once performed for the King of Thailand. He has converted his home into a shadow puppet museum, workshop and theater, open to the public. 'Ajahn' means guru or master. |
| A joker character used for comedic situations in a shadow puppet play. A shadow puppet play story may be based on the Ramayana epic or be a contemporary story of love and comedy. |
| Designs and patterns for a shadow puppet are being carved out of treated and dried buffalo or cow hide. |
| The carving will be painted using black, green, red and yellow colours. Bamboo rods are then attached to allow manipulation of the puppets. |
