At the entrance of Muang Nakhon Palace with our two student guides. Surrounded by fruit orchards, this palace was built to receive the Royal Family when they visited Nakhon a few years ago.
The English Language Dept of the Rajabhat Institute, a polytechnic, is running tours of Nakhon Si Thammarat under the name 'Khon Tours' in order to improve the English of the students. Our first stop is at the Cultural Center of the Institute where we had a look at Nakhon's past and present.
A special treat is the traditional Thai dance performance by the Fine & Applied Arts students of Rajabhat Institute.
A traditional dance unique to Southern Thailand is the Manora, which also exists as another version in Kelantan.

Walking up to the hilltop chedi of Wat Khao Pun temple. It was built after a monk who was on pilgrimage from Chiang Mai had dreams that urged him to stop at the temple and build a chedi on top of the hill.
Warm and friendly smiles from the girl students of Rajabhat Institute, Nakhon Si Thammarat.
