| This road side stall is selling Isan (Northeast Thailand) style food. This means grilled pork, grilled sausages, sticky rice and som tam (raw papaya salad). It serves good tom yam soup too. Note the unique on the floor seating arrangement. |
| Southern Thai food is the most spicy of all Thai food. However, in Nakhon Si Thammarat, you can opt for something less spicy in Khanom Jin. This is rice flour noodles (similar but not the same as our 'Laksa') served with curry. In this restaurant, we get 3 different curries to go with the noodles and a platter of raw vegetables to complement the curries. |
| With Thais of Chinese origin forming over 10% of the population, there are sure to be Chinese food available. Here the owner of a food shop is making pa-tong-koh (fried dough, that's 'Yau Char Kwai' to the Chinese) for breakfast. Note the Thai version is only about 4 inches long. |
