season 01 • episode 06

the Robot Revolution

plot
Raeburn gives the crew of Galasphere 347 two week’s leave.  Dart and Husky decide to spend theirs underwater at the Atlantic Sea Farm.  At the farm, a volcanic eruption destroys some of the robot workers.  Dart gives a robot head to Professor Haggerty, who discovers that the explosion caused certain minerals to mix with the sea water to form an acid which ate away part of the robots’ brains.  Since the other part is made from a different metal, only the part that allows the robots to obey their user’s instructions is destroyed.  The robots soon revolt and take over the city, including Space Headquarters.  Colonel Raeburn orders an immediate evacuation, and Dart, Husky and Haggerty manage to escape in the Galasphere.  Their video link with Space Headquarters is left open and they see Gabbler in Haggerty’s laboratory.  A robot advances toward him, but freezes before it reaches him. Haggerty realizes that the ultrasonic speech of the Uranus plant - which Gabbler had been feeding when the robot entered – immobilizes the robots.  Dart tells Gabbler to take the plant to the radio room and broadcast its voice over all of Space Headquarters, stopping the robots completely.

notes
The Uranus plant seen in the Dark Planet appears again in this episode.
