These are pictures of the Dickson showing the damage
receive in Cape Haderas on Dec 3, 1959 while returning from a carribean
cruise. We were given a helicopter escort to Norfolk for repairs. I
will attempt to send these pictures over several e-mails in the hope
that they will work this time.
These two pictures show the damage to the post office from on deck
where the wave broke thru. No names available.

These two pictures were taken of the Storekeeper's Office after the
storm. Ed Pelrine is one of the guys in the pictures.

Dean, Third from left, was promoted to Chief, and
this was accomplished during an Minority enlistment.
That's me, wearing hat in the center.
The Picture on the left was taken at the Plantation Club,
Nice, France, Aug 18 1951. Showing Heesch, Whiting.and me.
Heesch, I believe was from Steubenville, Ohio.
He was one of the crew members that was in reserves
and re-called to active duty for the Koren War.
And one final note, I believe that the radio call sign was "NTOL", Nan,
Tare, Oboe, Love, using the phonic alphabet, that was used at that time.

Back in "65" or "66" we were getting ready to go on a training cruise to the Carib.when we in Newport to refuel , when we were hit broadside by a inport refueler,picture no.1 is looking down from the main deck , picture no.2 is looking from the pier,and picture no.3 is the tanker that hit us .This delayed our cruise for about a week for repairs.
Then we were on our way to train Officers from the War college.

This picture is of the filming of the movie "Advise & Consent" which had a scene filmed aboard the H.R.Dickson DD708 about 1962. You can see Otto Preminger (director),Henry Fonda and Walter Pidgeon.

This is possibly the very first picture of the Dickson when it was pulled into New York for the first time.

This picture was taken when the Dickson arrived in South Boston for the last time just before being decommissioned. The crew members are Pete Dubois(far right)Electronics Tech, John Miller(second from right)Quartermaster, Larry Wilson(me)(third from right)Radarman, and BenE . Car Electrician. This was also the day I was discharged from active duty.
