of all healing It is one of the most important health systems in India and it has attracted increasing attention form the West. Many scholars presume that knowledge of Ayurveda spread out from India and influenced the ancient Chinese system of medicine, Unani medicine, and the humoral medicine practiced by Hippocrates in Greece. While it is commonly accepted that Western medicine had it roots in Greek thought and practice, it has been shown that Greek medicine relied heavily on knowledge from the East and India. There are those who suggest that Hippocrates, considered to be the father of Western medicine, based his medical knowledge on Ayurveda. This style became popular in Europe, and established the foundation of the European tradition in medicine. In 16th Century Europe, Paracelsus, the originator of modern medicine, practiced and propagated a system of Medicine, which borrowed heavily from Ayurveda.
