
l. All students will need a pass unless you accompany them to
the library. Students do
not have to have a pass to use the library
before school, after school , or during their
lunch break.
2. Please request equipment in advance. Therefore, it can
be brought to your room
before school begins. A calendar
will be kept on the desk for you to sign up.
3. Reference books remain in the library unless permission is granted to remove them.
4. Orientation will be done for the 9th grade English classes.
5. I f you would like to schedule your class for research or check
out time, please let me
know in advance. It always helps
to inform me about what your class is working on.
I can pull books and materials that might
be helpful.

2. Magazines may be checked out and returned within three days.
Please do not keep
them. Other people want to read
them. The sign-out sheet is next to the magazines.

1. Channel 1 Educator’s Guide will be placed in your mailbox
each month.
2. The library will house and record mostly instructional programs
from the Classroom
Channel and ITV. Copyright guidelines
will need to be followed.
3.. Anytime you would like to have anything taped, please fill out the
card
with the Educator’s Resource Guide and return
the card to me.
4. The video list is now is on computer. You should receive
a printed list of videos for
subjects that you teach. Therefore,
you will have titles and video tape number for
your lesson plans.

1. Anytime you need any materials for your classes, please let
me know. I will help
you locate materials. Also, if
you would like anything reserved for your classroom,
please let me know.
2. Each year I order new materials for the library. Current
publishers’ catalogs are
available. If anyone has a request for
library materials that will enrich his/her class-
room instruction, I will be glad to consider
it. With your help our library funds can be
used wisely for materials that will benefit
the students. Please turn in your requests to
the library.
OVERDUE SLIPS
1. Overdue slips will be given out first period. It is extremely
important for first period
teachers to give out overdue slips.
If a student does not clear his/her fine within
two weeks, he/she will be placed on
afternoon detention. Some students use the
the excuse, “My teacher never gave me
an overdue slip,” to try to avoid punishment.
Please be consistent in giving these
slips out.
SOCIAL ISSUES RESOURCES SERIES (SIRS)
SIRS consists of loose-leaf volumes covering
32 issues and two critical issues.
Each volume is devoted to a single issue;
contains articles reprinted from newspapers,
magazines, government documents, and journals
that present a broad spectrum of
opinion and reading levels; and is supplemented
annually with 20 current articles.
This reference tool is available for use at
WPHS Library - South.
BOOKS FROM READING’S FUN
At various times during the school year
a representative from Reading’s Fun will
bring a selection of books to the library for teachers to purchase.
These books are priced
at 50% to 75% off of the retail price. I will notify you each
time we have these books
available. Your purchase helps our library.
COMPUTERS
There are computers in the library for
teacher and student use. There will be times
during the school year when they will be used more heavily by students.
When an
entire class is scheduled to use the library and is using the computers,
it would be helpful
for you to wait until after school or a time when I don’t have a class
scheduled. Also, if
anyone is waiting to use the computer, please limit your time to 10
minutes. Below you
will find a listing of the computer rules for the library:
l. Only two students are allowed at a time at each computer.
2. The time limit is 10 minutes per group or person.
3. Copies may be printed: 20 cents per black/white and 25
cents per colored copies.
Teachers will also be charged this
amount for their copies. The library is responsible
for buying the ink cartridges
and paper.. Diskettes are sold for $1.00 for teachers
and students.
4. Please do not bring software from home because it can cause a virus.
5. Please leave computers at the startup menu for the next person.
6. Remember to take care of the computers.
7. Students will only be allowed to use computers for research,
word processing, and
checking E-mail.
A student will not be allowed to play games,
participate in chat rooms or view
objectionable material on any of the computers.
8. The Internet policy of WPSD states the Internet can be used
only for educational
purposes.
