If you are new to the Long Wave and Nikolai Kondratieff's work, may I suggest starting with his own very succinct and clear paper, "The Long Waves in Economic Life". This article originally appeared in the Archiv fr Sozialwissenschaft und Sozialpolitik in 1926 (Vol. 56, no. 3, pp. 573-609).
The German language paper was translated into English by W. P. Stolper of Harvard University, edited, and published in the Review of Economic Statistics, Vol. XVII, No. 6, November 1935, pp. 105-115. Ten pages of an appendix were left out, but all tables and charts from the original article were included.
Even if you are quite knowlegeable about the subject, you may find it interesting to re-read the original work for its simplicity and clarity, and before the debates and "embroidery" began.
At this time you may view my copy of this article at this site by entering the password "times54" (without the quotation marks) when prompted, but you may not print it out. Long Waves
Francisco Lou's excellent mini-biography, "Nikolai Kondratiev and the Early Consensus and Dissensions About History and Statistics", is a highly technical paper on the life of the man and especially the economic and philosophical debate arising from Kondratieff's work which goes on to this day. My advice is to read this in bits and to come back to it often. Lou
Other biographical materials and important papers on or by Kondratieff and other prominent Long Wave writers and analysts will be gladly received.
