The Long Wall is an interesting project undertaken by Desertmartin Developments. The wall is a boundary wall dividing Desertmartin Developments property from an adjoining site and runs the length of the project. It will be covered with ceramic frost proof tiles, each one foot square and will be an exciting focus for historians and genealogists who would like some memory of their ancestors left in the homeland. If you have ancestors from around Desertmartin or the South Derry area or even anywhere in Northern Ireland or if your ancestor was Irish or Ulster Scot/Scotch Irish, why not take take the opportunity to reconnect with your country of origin. You can purchase a tile and have inscribed on it your ancestor's name, dates, place of origin or any other details (after agreement). We will maintain the wall and send you a photo of your renewed link with the land of your ancestors. If you wish to send us more data than fits on a one foot square tile, you can purchase as many tiles as you wish, or have your basic and additional information detailed in our Links Book which will be compiled in conjunction with the tiles. A single tile costs £50 sterling and included in this price, you can send more detailed information for inclusion in the Links Book. If you purchase four tiles this will cost only £150 sterling and you can send as much information for the Links Book as you wish. If you wish only to place an entry in the book, this will cost you £20 per generation. If you have links with Desertmartin or the wider area which are not genealogical, we do not want you to feel left out. We know of Us army veterans who were stationed near here at the Luney camp, Moneymore and elsewhere and we would welcome contact with you. So if you have memories of being here, or perhaps even photographs or if you want to commemorate your visit, your company or perhaps a friend who died in action, consider the Long Wall or the Links Book. There are people through the centuries who have had links with the area in other ways - perhaps through business. We welcome everyone. The only thing that we ask is that you remain nonpolitical. So get in touch today and reestablish your links for all time.
