Finding
Information On The Net
At last estimate, there were over 40 million registered
domains. A simple experiment: search Goggle for the word
"the" & you get over 6 billion results.
But ofcource Internet is most exhaustive and
comprehensive library of information and knowledge. Its
really easy to get lost in this gigantic resource.
Surfing on Net is just like ENIGMA something that
baffles understanding and cannot be explained to others.
We often keep on buffering on certain things in net
which is not so important but on achieving it we fell
like heaven. But after wards we realize that we have
wasted 3-4 hrs for not so important things or which r
easily accessible. So in this small section we will
discuss how to maximize the probabilities of getting
useful information's without getting lost.
There are two types of search engines -
meta-search engines and normal
search engines.
Meta-search engines are the one which returns the
most accurate results , they includes
www.askjeeves.com
.
Knowing about the best search engines &
knowing how to use them efficiently are two completely
different things. Try Typing 'hacking, cracking, hacker
or learn to hack' would probably find zillions of
websites & newsgroup post to read form.
You may, think that more the search results, the
more is the information you get. So, you painfully click
one by one on each site in the search results. You would
probably get
some sites with black backgrounds & atrocious font
colors & sizes, with skull having red rolling eyes
& huge useless JPGEs, With attractive banners like
'learn to hack YAHOOMAIL' & after an hour you find
its a bluff.
You need to figure out how to use them to get
what you want & not what they have to offer to you.
Using quotes (" ") & (AND,+,OR,NOT,-) you
can narrow down the search parameters & make the
search more specific & exact on the given topics.
(after using quotes look the no. Of search results)
Becoming a real hacker is not as it seems. You
simple cannot become a hacker instantly & overnight.
You need to be an experienced & intelligent
programmer and also need to know at least one Operating
System inside out along with this you should be
comfortable with networking, TCP/IP & various
protocols. But from where to get all this? Ofcource some
we will be dealing & rest?
Then here's the Answer -> RFC ie Request For
Comment the most exhaustive resource for all aspiring
web Geeks. Just get down in any search engine & type
RFC. Well they have article numbers. Say if you want RFC
821, then simply type 'RFC 821' in the search field.
There is something called FYI, which stands for
FOR YOUR INFORMATION. They provide an easier guide to
what RFCs explain.
