So Who Is A HACKER Anyway?
Most
people think of hackers as computer vandals. But believe
me hackers are not computer criminals. Then why do most
people think of hackers as criminals? The media is
responsible for this erroneous assumption. Almost all
people take in & build their opinions on what they
are fed by the media. The media has projected hackers to
be computer vandals who damage system files after
breaking into servers, make & release viruses,
deface web sites & a whole lot more.
But, Hackers' r computer geeks who knew almost
everything about computers. Hackers know every thing abt
the way software or hardware or an application works.
They have this uncanny ability of finding out ways of
doing the impossible. They don't accept software
applications in the form they r meant to be in but more
often than not find ways of making software work the way
they want it to. They debug code & use trial &
error methods to discover unknown & new tricks &
secrets. They do try to break into system but have the
decency not to cause any damage or steal passwords, etc.
They try break free from restrictions & discover new
hidden features. U see, hacking is abt knowledge.
Hackers r really intellectual people who have the extra
bit of information. They know of things normal people
would only dream of.
There is a very thin line between a hackers and
crackers & not many people can resist the temptation
of crossing it. A cracker gains popularity only amongst
a smaller part of the population that is the underworld.
However an Ethical hacking gains respect in a larger
section of society. And believe me a Hacker is respected
by crackers. Hacking and
cracking are also supported illegally by the
companies in names of competition.
Basically there r 2 types of hackers
1> WHITE
HAT HACKER &
2> BLACK
HAT HACKER
(can be called as crackers).
White
hat hackers r those hackers who work out for a certain
special reason over the net & do have a good pay
scale much more than an Engineer or software developer.
Big companies like TCS, INFOCOM, etc. have this sort of
white hat hackers so as to save their network & web
based information safe from other hackers &
companies. This hackers r just like life boats for big
companies, Banks & mainly for armed forces.
On the other side BLACK hat hackers r just the
opposite to white hat hackers. This people hack just for
their entertainment, enthusiasm on certain things or to
show others their power in web-world by defacing
web-sites, stealing passwords, etc. Also this people r
very good critic means they can expresses a reasoned
judgment on what they do. These hackers have the
capability to get into a network & steal the
information or data & corrupt the system. These
Hackers can even get down into a Network or any personal
computer & control each & every thing & can
also shut ur computer down & u can't do any thing.
Of course this r the real cyber criminals of World Wide
Web.

But of course it's tough to proof because it's a
technical matter which can't be proved so easily.
Never the less their r many rules &
principles over hacking or else it may become a criminal
touch. In US & European countries, the networking
& hacking rule r very hard. But Don't worry here we
r not going to become a criminal but of course a WHITE
HAT HACKER, & explore all the tips, secrets of
windows & how can we save our system from being
hacked. Our platform will be our daily use OS (Operating
Systems) i.e. in WINDOWS 9x (Win 98) & LINUX.
